Even my choices on these hotels are based on online reviews.
City: San Francisco
Hotel: Hotel Diva
Description:
Hotel Diva is sleek and sexy, exuding a cutting edge-style all its own. Upon arriving, stroll past the Diva sidewalk of fame featuring signatures of past celebrity guests and then walk through a fluid glass-wall entry to a sophisticated lobby. Cobalt blue carpet and stainless steel sculpted headboards set the stage for your own Diva experience. With an excellent location near the shops and restaurants of Union Square, theatre and art galleries, guests can find everything right outside the door. Walk directly across the street to find two of the city’s best performing arts theatres, the American Conservatory Theatre (ACT) and the Curran Theatre. Or just turn left to explore bustling Union Square, the heart of San Francisco!

Personal review:
Excellent location! It’s just 2 blocks away from UNION SQUARE (main shopping area). Convenient location. It looks rather new with a modern touch in it’s displays and furniture. My room looks exactly like the one in the middle picture with 2 double beds. Small room with small toilet. However, it’s clean, the most important factor to me. The hotel is connected to the starbucks. Perfect for ordering that hot chocolate for breakfast on the cold mornings during december. The concierge there very very friendly. Very nice grand-pa type. My only complain is that the floor boards are a little squeaky in the room as well as on the corridor. Doesn’t help that I was sleepless the first 2 nights due to jetlag. So each time someone walks past in the wee morn, I can distinctively hear and start to get wary. The nights after when I was really tired and fell aslp, I didn’t hear a thing. Oh and they have FREE wifi for the hotel guests. That’s how I kept in contact with my friends on msn and fb!
Pros:
- Clean
- Good location
- Free wifi
- Starbucks just beside it
- Friendly staff
Cons:
- Squeaky floorboard

City: Las Vegas
Hotel: Stratosphere

Description:
Live the life of a high roller – without breaking the bank – at the Stratosphere Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. Take your pick from 2,427 generously sized Las Vegas Strip hotel rooms and 133 suites, many with spectacular views.
Personal Review:
Lovely room + BIG toilet area. Very comfy queen beds for us. They have the tallest tower at the strip. However, the location is not ideal. It’s pretty far from the strip. It’s, however, considered cheap since it’s not directly on the “happening” portion of the strip. I think I paid USD30-40 per night there. There’s a DEUCE bus shuttle stop right in the front of the hotel which is great. To buy the 24-hr access pass for the Deuce we had to WALK to cirus cirus-hotel and it is pretty far away. Tat’s the bad side as the walk to the other hotel is quite quiet and deserted. Not advisable to walk in the dark. One more complain is that there’s NO free wifi. :(
Pros:
- Clean Room
- Big toilet
- Has the deuce shuttle bus stop just in front of it
Cons:
- Not ON the strip.
- No free wifi.
- Pathetic casino.
Recommend to friends? NO! I rather spend a bit more and get a hotel directly ON the strip.

Feel at ease in decidedly uncomplicated Hollywood hotel rooms, fitted with mindful amenities – from FACE cosmetics to flat-panel TVs. Personal Review:
The exterior of the hotel looks quite bleah. But the rooms are pretty neat. Again, we got the 2 double bed rooms. Very comfy beds. Clean rooms. The location is good as well. About a 5-10 mins to the famous Hollywood street, where all the sights are. The walk of fame, Kodak Theatre, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Madame Tussand’s Wax museum, Ripley’s Believe it or not, etc… The hotel has very friendly staff as well. We only roamed around the hollywood area and decided against being too adventurous and travel elsewhere. Would have loved to stay at the Renaissance Hotel which is connected to the highland shopping mall! Den we wont have to worry about running back to the hotel after sunset. DARK = SCARY, especially when only 2 of us girls walking around.
Pros:
- Close distance to the HOLLYWOOD street.
- Friendly staff
- Clean and Spacious Room
Cons:
- No free wifi
Recommend to friends? YES!
Note: Tips is given to the hotel chambermaid by placing the notes under a cup. This worked for Hotel Diva and Hollywood heights. Ain’t too sure why the Stratosphere ppl didn’t want to tk the tips under the cup. They only took when it wasn’t under a cup. *we tried that on the 2nd day at strato.* LOL. Usually we left USD2 per day.
